Hearts connect to light the candles from Wales to Sri Lanka
They
had first hand experience of when giant waves struck the nation.
John & Eluned left their tourist destination to join the relief
camps of Sarvodaya. They recall the memories of planning the relief
work, unpacking the relief donations, planning the storage sites
and helping to deliver them to affected families. They had been
part of the breathless, tireless, endless relief operations in
Sri Lanka.
A
year has gone
they are in Wales. In loving memory they organized
a candle lighting event at the Honey Café. This took place
at the same time as the 'circle of candle light - around the land
of Sri Lanka' event, organized by Sarvodaya to commemorate the
first anniversary of the Tsunami.
Children,
grandchildren and friends joined together to light 300 candles
in remembrance of those who lost so much in the Tsunami. It was
a night they will remember as they worked to light up the Honey
cafe. As it became darker the candles became brighter, the wind
went away and stillness and peace descended. The Honey Cafe became
a temple of light as we made a circle of candles. |
